Care and Use of the Car Magnets

Vehicle magnets are an affordable solution to temporary car or truck door signage. You can easily use the door magnets for multiple vehicles.

Cleaning your Magnet Sign

• We highly recommend to clean your magnet sign and vehicle surface weekly with mild soap and water
  • Weekly removal and cleaning will avoid magnetic polarization of the surface area
  • Weekly cleaning helps prevent moisture and dirt build up between the magnet sign and surface
• Remove, inspect and clean the magnet sign after every rain or snow fall
• Make sure the magnet sign and surface area are completely dry before re-applying the vehicle magnet

If the magnet starts to lift on the sides and/or no longer fully sticks to the vehicle's surface it's highly recommended to remove, discard or replace as it can become a road hazard if it falls off.

Storing Away your Magnet Sign

• Before storing your magnet sign, clean and allow to fully dry.
• Store in a dry area
• Store away flat on a flat surface, you can stack magnets on top of each other as long as the magnetic sides are not touching each other
• DO NOT FOLD your magnetic sign, the fold marks will be permanent and it will ruin both the magnet and printed surface area

Applying the Car Magnet to your vehicle

Prepare the vehicle surface

1. Choose a smooth, flat if possible surface on the vehicle
   • The surface should be free of trimming, molding, dents, rusting or indentations
2. Clean and dry the area on the vehicle where you plan to apply the magnetic sign. Any dirt or dust on the surface of the vehicle can cause scratches on painted surfaces.

Applying the Car Magnet

1. It's best to use the magnet in room temperature setting, an environment that is too hot or cold may not allow the magnet material to properly adhere to the surface.
2. Starting with one corner allow the magnet to pull the sign onto the surface.
3. Be sure the entire magnet is flush to the surface without any trapped air holes
4. If you placed the magnet in the wrong area, or crooked, simply remove the magnet from it's sides (not corners) and reapply it to the surface.
5. Do not pull the magnet across the surface as it could scratch or damage the painted surface
6. Make sure the magnet sign is firmly adhered to the surface of the vehicle before driving

How long will my car magnet last?

With proper care and cleaning the magnets can last you 3-5 years.

Will the car door magnet damage the surface of my car?

The vehicle magnets should not damage the surface of your car as long as you properly prepare and apply the magnetic sign. The magnet will cleanly remove without residue from any vehicle surface, however, if you don't clean and dry the surface area or if you slide the magnet across the vehicle surface it could cause damage or scratches.

Why are the corners rounded on the magnet sign?

The rounded corners make the car magnet more aerodynamic. This helps prevent air getting through the corners and flicking the magnet off the vehicle while it's in motion.

Can I use this on more than one car?

Yes, the magnets are perfect for re-use, simply remove them off one vehicle and apply them to another.

What kind of surfaces will the car door magnets stick to?

The car magnets will stick to any clean, smooth metal surface, however, it will not stick to aluminum, plastic, non-ferrous metals, or fiberglass.

What is better car magnets or car decals?

Car magnets are a great temporary signage solution for vehicles that you can easily remove and re-used without compromising or damaging the car surface. Car decals are permanent and cannot be removed easily or re-used, car decals are more ideal for commercial vehicles.

Where on my car should I put the magnetic sign?

It's ideal to apply the car magnet to the smoothest, flattest surface on the vehicle. This is usually a door surface. Avoid any angular or curved surfaces because the magnet won't have enough surface to adhere to and could possibly fall off.

How thick is this car magnet?

Our car door magnets are .030" thick or also referred to as 30 mil. The thicker material is durable enough to withstand outdoor conditions and strong enough to stick to a vehicle traveling at high speeds.

Will the car magnet fall off?

If your car magnet was applied properly to a clean, dry, even surface without any air bubbles and is properly cleaned regularly it should not fall off your vehicle. It's important to take proper care of your car door magnet and perform weekly cleaning to prevent dust and dirt build up to ensure a safe, strong magnetic connection. If the magnet is not cared for properly, or starts to lift on the corners or sides we highly recommend removing the magnetic sign from the vehicle as it could become a serious road hazard.

Will the car magnet fall off in the rain or snow?

The car magnet should remain magnetized to the vehicle during rain or snow, however, we do highly recommend removing the magnet sign during heavy rain on show to prevent the pressure from the rain or snow from pushing them off the vehicle.

Why won't my car magnet stick to my car?

We recommend before purchasing a car magnet please make sure your car door is made out of metal material, keep in mind the magnets won't stick to aluminum, plastic, non-ferrous metals, fiberglass, side paneling, or Bondo repaired surfaces. This is the number one reasons why car magnets won't stick to your car, simply because the door is made of a material that does not allow magnets to stick.

If your car does indeed have a surface that allows the magnet to stick, then you will want tomake sure the surface is clean and debris-free. Clean the surface area with a mild soap and allow to fully dry before applying the magnet to the surface. The surface needs to be flat or gently curved in order for the magnet to stick.

Can you rush production for the business cards?

Unfortunately, due to the printing process we are not able to rush production on the business cards. If you are on a tight deadline please contact us before placing the order so we can check if you'll get them on time.

How many colors or details can I use in my artwork, will it cost extra?

You can use any number of colors or any amount of detail in your artwork without incurring any additional fees. We print our flyers with digital technology in full color and no matter how many colors or how detailed the artwork is, it won't affect the cost of the flyers.

What color profile should I use in my artwork?

Due to our printing process we require CMYK color profiles for flyers. If you submit artwork in any other color profile it will be converted to CMYK and may cause unexpected color results so it's best to set up the artwork in CMYK to keep the final print as accurate as possible.

When will I get a proof?

Typically, you'll receive a proof via email from our graphics department within 1-2 hours of placing the order, if the order is placed during regular business hours of 8:30am - 5pm EST, Monday - Friday, with the exception of holidays. If you place your order during off hours/days, you'll receive a proof 1-2 hours from the time we re-open.

I don't have a print ready file or software to set up artwork, how can I get artwork set up?

Unfortunately, we don't offer artwork set up in house. Good websites to find graphic designers are fiverr.com or 99designs.com. If you are not able to find a designer please contact us and we can refer you to freelance designers we work with often.

I realized I sent the wrong file when I received the proof, what do I do?

No worries, this is why we send proofs! If you realized something is wrong in your artwork or sent the wrong file, simply respond to the graphics proof email, and let them know if you are sending a new file or have changes to your design online artwork. Our graphics team will always send you updated proofs, and nothing goes to print without your approval. 

I approved of the proof then realized it was wrong, what do I do?

We work fast over here, once the proof is approved it moves to production quickly. If you realize the proof was wrong after approving contact us as soon as possible. We can try to holt production if your order has not started to print yet. Once it starts printing it will be hard to pull it back at that point so the sooner you can let us know the better chances, we have to stop it.
